Transformation Tuesday- Roll in Shower
Happy Tuesday!
Today I want to show you how we transformed a small, cramped bathroom into a spacious roll in shower.
Click on the slideshow below to see this weeks Transformation ...
The purpose of a roll in shower is essentially that there are NO barriers. It is an open layout design.
Notice in the images above that there is a drain in the shower. Where the drain is, there is a slight slope, which allows the water to flow directly into the drain and keep the rest of the bathroom floor dry.
Other equipment shown are the grab bars and ADA toilet. There is a standard grab bar by the toilet as well as a flip grab bar. This gives our client the help she needs to transition to and from the toilet. Lastly, an ADA height toilet makes all of the difference. These toilets are higher than standard toilets, which helps our client significantly.
Remember, all of these modifications are made to improve our clients quality of life. An ADA home gives our clients INDEPENDENCE to do as much as they can at home, and to STAY at home.

Bathroom Renovation Tips that Make Cleaning a Breeze
What if I told you that one day, you may enjoy cleaning your bathroom?
Would you call me crazy?
In this article from Houzz, Becky Harris talks about her recently renovated bathroom and how much easier it is to clean it.
If you think about it, these renovations can make a big difference.
- Having a hand held shower makes it easy to rinse the shower area.
- Wall mounted toilet and sinks are the best! They take up little space and give you an open layout. This makes it so much easier to clean the floor, since there is less stuff in the way.
- Also, take into consideration the premium quality materials we use in bathroom remodels. BFA LLC, always double waterproofs bathrooms and use mold and mildew resistant grout. We also look for tile that is low maintenance and non slip.
When your bathroom is properly renovated with modern materials and technology, you will want to be in there more and it will be a lot easier to keep clean.

Virtual Reality and Accessiblity
Have you heard of Virtual Reality?
The most common access to Virtual Reality is the Samsung Galaxy Gear. This kit consists of a headset that you put your Samsung phone in (shown in video below) and then put that head piece on. This form of technology has the ability to take you anywhere in or out of this world, using the Samsung phone screen.
My first experience with Virtual Reality, or VR, was this Samsung. It is almost like putting on goggles that give you a 360 degree view of any image or video the phone is displaying.
When I put on the VR Gear, I saw a video of a National Forrest. It was incredible, I felt like I was really there. I was amazed that I could go anywhere I wanted with this VR, which meant that anyone else can too. Even someone in a wheelchair or someone who is bed bound. It was like a light bulb turned on in my brain. And I was not alone!
Watch the video below from USA Today, where Tim learns about VR and tries it out!
My favorite quote from Tim was,
" Everywhere is Accessible! "
That's the beauty of this technology. It is accessible and makes everything accessible!
I hope that the VR experience shows Tim that he can do all the things he dreams of doing. To learn more about Tim and how you can help, go to his GoFundme page.

Ceiling Lifts 101
Ceiling lifts are a godsend for caregivers and clients who want to be independent in their homes. There are ceiling lifts for every need and every budget.
Since this equipment is meant to lift a person and transfer them to another room, you want to make sure it is reliable, sturdy and is able to complete the services you need. Also, take into consideration that ceiling lifts are long term solutions, thus you should think about this as an investment.
The most important parts of ceiling lifts are the quality and the installation. BFA LLC. is a certified dealer and installer for ARJO Huntleigh premium quality lifts. We have been working with these equipments for years and they are hospital grade, so we know they are sturdy.
Ceiling lifts have different forms of installation, so there are lots of things an installer needs to consider structurally before hand.
In above images, the lift is installed next to our clients bed and has a ceiling track that goes to the bathroom. This gives our client independence to transfer from her bed to the bathroom and back.
The installation for this ceiling tract required our team to go to the attic in order to securely bolt it. After the installation is completed, our technician needs to do a series of tests with weights around the whole track.
As you can see, ceiling lifts are a great investment, but you want to make sure that the provider is knowledgeable and has expertise with this equipment.

Wheelchairs on Airplanes
Do you or a loved one use a wheelchair for mobility? How often do you travel? What forms of travel do you prefer?
More often than not, people who travel with wheelchairs do not choose airplanes as transportation because of the inconvenience.
When you fly:
- You cannot use your own wheelchair
- Airplane seats do not provide the support you need
- Wheelchairs are broken when checked in with the luggage
- Wheelchairs even get lost
What a lot of able bodied people do not see is that wheelchairs are not accessories, they are an extension of the person. When you are transferred to another chair or worse, if you are held up in the airport because your wheelchair is lost, there are serioussituations that risk peoples lives.
Leave it to Michele Erwin, a mom of a child with disabilities, to fight for wheelchairs on airplanes. The unfortunate part is that her son cannot travel with her because it is too risky for him to fly without his chair.
Click below to watch the BBC video and learn about this incredible mom's plans for making airplane rides more comfortable for people who use wheelchairs.
What is your experience with Airplane Travel? What do you think about this plan?
